Baked Meatballs With Tomato Sauce
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 2 None green onions , chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 tbsp chopped oregano, plus additional leaves to serve
- 1 can (28 oz) tomato puree
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- Place ground beef, breadcrumbs, onions, garlic and oregano in a large bowl and season to taste. Mix well to combine. Roll mixture into 16 meatballs.
- Spray a large nonstick skillet with no stick cooking spray and heat on medium-high. Cook meatballs for 10 mins, until browned and cooked through.
- Preheat the broiler. Meanwhile, cook tomato puree in a saucepan for 5 mins, until heated through. Transfer meatballs to a greased baking dish. Pour tomato puree over top. Sprinkle with cheese.
- Broil for 5 mins, until cheese melts. Sprinkle with oregano leaves.
