Savory Puff Pastry Hearts
- 1 pkg frozen puff pastry (17.3 oz), thawed
- None None All-purpose flour, for dusting
- 1 pkg cream cheese (8 oz), softened
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 bunch parsley, finely chopped
- 1 bunch chives, finely chopped
- 1 None egg, separated
- None None Sesame seeds, caraway seeds and/or finely chopped nuts, for sprinkling
- Preheat the oven to 400u0b0F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Using a 2 1/2- to 3-inch heart-shaped cutter, cut out about 24 hearts. Mix together the cream cheese and milk, then fold in the parsley and chives. Put a dollop of cream cheese on half the hearts, leaving a small border at the edge. Brush the border with egg white, and top with the remaining hearts. Press the edges firmly and score with a fork. Beat the egg yolk with a little water and brush over the tops. Sprinkle the hearts with sesame seeds, caraway seeds and/or nuts, arrange on the baking sheet and bake for about 15 mins until golden and puffed.
