Pear Tarte Tatin
- 5 tbsp butter, chopped
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 5 None small ripe pears, peeled, halved, cored
- 1 None sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- None None ice cream, to serve
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0F.
- Scatter butter over base of a 9 inch shallow ovenproof pan. Sprinkle sugar evenly over base of pan. Arrange pears over sugar, cut-side up. Place pan over moderate heat on the stove. Cook, uncovered, for 10 mins. Cover and cook 8-10 mins more or until sugar caramelizes and pears are tender. If mixture is not caramelizing, uncover and cook a little longer. Remove pan from heat.
- Cut a 9 inch disc from the puff pastry (large enough to cover pears completely). Place pastry over pears, tucking in edges. Bake for 20 mins or until pastry is puffed and golden. Place a heatproof serving plate over top of pan. Carefully invert tarte on to serving plate. Serve with ice cream.
