Braised Beef Brisket

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large saucepan over high heat. Cook beef, in batches, until browned. Remove from pan.
  2. Reduce heat to medium and add remaining oil to pan. Cook onion, garlic and ginger until onion softens. Return beef to pan along with fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, spice mix, lemongrass and 2 cups water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 hour 15 mins, or until beef is tender. Discard lemongrass. Add green beans and 1/2 of the nuts. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 mins. Season to taste.
  3. Serve beef, sprinkled with remaining nuts and mint leaves.
