Fig And Almond Tart

  1. In a bowl, combine powdered sugar and flour. Cut in butter until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add egg yolk and knead until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 400u0b0F. On a floured work surface, roll out dough then use to line an 8 inch tart pan. In a bowl, combine granulated sugar, ground almonds and almond extract. Beat egg whites to stiff peaks then fold into almond mixture. Transfer to tart shell and smooth out. Arrange figs in a fan shape over top. Sprinkle with sliced almonds and brown sugar. Bake for 25-35 mins, until golden.
  3. Serve warm or cold.
