Hearts-A-Fire Chili(Kids In The Kitchen)
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 medium size onion, chopped
- 1 pkg. chili seasoning mix (such as French's Chili-O)
- 2 (19 oz.) cans red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)
- 1 c. green pepper, chopped (optional)
- 2 c. white rice, cooked (optional)
- Brown beef in skillet over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Drain excess fat. Add chopped onion. Cook 5 minutes more. Stir in chili mix, tomatoes, water and beans.
- Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for at least 30 minutes. Serve in soup bowls over rice, if desired.
- Shredded cheese and chopped pepper can be sprinkled on top.
- Serves 4 to 6.
