Bread Rolls
- 1 cup milk + 1-2 tbsp
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 3 1/4 cups bread flour
- 3 tbsp butter, cubed
- 1 None egg yolk
- Warm 1 cup milk then add sugar and yeast, stir to dissolve then set aside for 5 mins. Mix flour with 1/2 tsp salt then cut in butter until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Make a well in the center and add milk mixture. Knead to a smooth dough, adding 1-2 tbsp milk if needed. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface then shape into a long cylinder and cut into 16 equal-sized pieces. Roll each piece into an 8 inch long thin roll then shape into a spiral, tucking the end under the roll. Transfer to prepared pans and leave in a warm place for about 15 mins.
- Mix egg yolk and remaining milk and brush over rolls. Dust with flour. Bake for about 15 mins. Let cool on a wire rack. Best served warm.
