Nanaimo Bars(Makes 16 Bars.)
- 2 c. graham cracker crumbs
- 1 c. flaked coconut
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 c. soft butter or margarine
- 2 c. powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp. hot water
- 2/3 c. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- Measure crumbs, coconut and nuts into a bowl.
- Blend and reserve.
- Heat butter and 1/4 cup granulated sugar in small saucepan until butter is melted.
- Stir in cocoa.
- Mixture should be smooth and sugar dissolved.
- Blend in egg and vanilla, mixing well.
- Combine mixture with crumb mixture.
- Turn into a lightly oiled 8-inch cake pan.
- Press firmly to make a smooth surface. Place in freezer while preparing next layer.
