Really Good Candied Baked Beans

  1. Soak beans overnight per package directions.
  2. In same water, bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, 1 hour.
  3. Drain and transfer to baking dish.
  4. Saute bacon (I chop mine into bite-size pieces before cooking).
  5. Remove with slotted spoon.
  6. Add to beans. Saute onion in bacon drippings until tender.
  7. Drain and add to beans.
  8. Add remaining ingredients and stir gently.
  9. Bake 1 hour in 350u0b0 oven.
  10. This is perfect for a buffet, as it retains its good flavor when cooled.
  11. This can be made a day or two in advance and refrigerated.
  12. Allow an extra 15 minutes cooking time.
