Steak With Mushroom Macaroni And Cheese
- 1 1/2 lb sirloin steak
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp whole-grain mustard
- 2 tbsp fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves, roughly chopped
- 9 oz macaroni
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 3 oz Parmesan cheese, grated
- 7 oz baby portobello mushrooms, thinly sliced
- None None steamed broccoli, to serve
- Drizzle steak with 1 tbsp oil. Season then spread mustard over 1 side of beef. Sprinkle with parsley. Set aside.
- Cook macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring, for 1 min. Gradually stir in milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until sauce boils and thickens. Remove from heat and stir in cheese and macaroni. Cover to keep warm.
- Heat remaining oil in a large nonstick frying pan. Cook mushrooms, stirring, over high heat until browned and tender. Add to macaroni and cheese.
- Add steak, mustard-side down, to frying pan and cook for 3 mins per side for medium-rare, or until cooked to your liking. Cut into 4 portions. Serve with mushroom macaroni and steamed broccoli.
