Red Wine Pears With Chocolate Crumble

  1. Combine wine, granulated sugar, bay leaf and cardamom in a medium saucepan. Stir on low heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil. Add pears. Reduce heat to low. Cover surface with a sheet of parchment paper, weighing down with a plate. Simmer gently for 25-30 mins.
  2. Meanwhile, for the crumble, sift flour into a medium bowl. Using fingertips, rub in butter until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in brown sugar, almonds and chocolate.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400u0b0F. Lightly grease a shallow 1 1/2-quart baking dish. Transfer pears to prepared dish. Add 1/4 cup of the cooking liquid. Sprinkle evenly with crumble.
  4. Bake for 25-30 mins, until golden. Serve warm with cream.
