Upside-Down Pear And Chocolate Cake
- 10 tbsp butter, chopped, 6 tbsp softened
- 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3 None Bartlett pears, peeled, cored, cut into 12 wedges each
- 1 cup self-rising flour + 2 tbsp
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 None eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 5.25 oz dark chocolate, melted
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0F. Grease and line a deep 8 inch cake pan with parchment paper.
- Heat a large frying pan over medium heat. Add 4 tbsp butter and 1/4 cup sugar. Add pears and cook, covered, for 5 mins, stirring occasionally, until pear is just soft. Arrange pear slices in base of prepared pan.
- Beat remaining ingredients, except chocolate, until combined. Beat vigorously for another 2 mins then beat in chocolate until combined. Pour over pears in prepared pan. Bake for about 1 hour 15 mins, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 mins before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
