Stir Fried Beef With Brussels Sprouts And Walnuts
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 lb beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 2 tsp grated ginger
- 16 None brussels sprouts, quartered
- 1/4 cup dry sherry
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 cup walnut halves, toasted
- None None Steamed rice, to serve
- Mix the soy sauce, sesame oil and 1/2 of the cornstarch in a large bowl. Add the steak, season with pepper and toss to coat. Combine remaining cornstarch and 1/4 cup water in a small bowl.
- Heat 1 tbsp of the oil in a wok on high heat. Stir-fry the steak for 1-2 mins, until browned. Remove from the pan.
- Heat the remaining 1 tbsp oil in the wok on high heat. Stir-fry the garlic and ginger for 20 seconds. Add the brussels sprouts and stir-fry for 1 min. Stir in the sherry; cover and simmer for 2 mins. Return the steak to the pan with the oyster sauce and cornstarch mixture and simmer for 1 min, until heated through. Add the walnuts and stir-fry until combined. Serve with steamed rice.
