Chocolate Pear Buns
- 1/3 cup self-rising flour
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tbsp margarine, chilled
- 1/2 cup 2% milk + 1-2 tbsp
- 3 tbsp raisins, finely chopped
- 1 None ripe pear, peeled, coarsely grated, cored
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0F with a sheet tray inside. Sift flour and cinnamon into a large bowl. Add sugar. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Add 1/2 cup milk and raisins. Stir until just combined. Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth.
- Roll dough into a 32x8 inch rectangle. Scatter pear over dough then roll up into a long log. Trim ends then cut into 12 slices. Arrange rolls, side by side, on parchment paper then carefully transfer to hot sheet tray and bake for 25-30 mins, or until golden brown.
- Sift powdered sugar and cocoa powder into a small bowl. Add remaining milk and stir until smooth. Drizzle over buns. Serve immediately.
