Montego Bay Bars

  1. Heat oven to 400u0b0.
  2. Grease a square 8 x 8 x 2-inch or 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  3. Cook dates, granulated sugar, water and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly about 10 minutes or until mixture thickens.
  4. Cool.
  5. Cream butter and brown sugar.
  6. Mix in remaining ingredients.
  7. Press half the mixture evenly in bottom of pan. Spread with date mixture.
  8. Top with remaining crumble mixture, pressing lightly.
  9. Bake 25 to 30 minutes.
  10. Cool; then cut into bars.
