Pork And Potato Pot Pie

  1. Heat the oil in a large pan, and briskly sear the pork, turning until browned all over. Season, and add the garlic, and remove from heat.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the potatoes and onions together, add the nutmeg, and season with salt and pepper. Take two-thirds of the mixture and spread it evenly in the bottom of a Dutch oven (or other oven proof dish with a lid). Lay the pork on the top of the potatoes, ensuring the meat is evenly spaced. Take the remaining third of the potato slices and place them on top of the pork, overlapping the slices to completely cover the the meat. Sprinkle the bacon over the top of the dish, and pour over the cider.
  3. Cover the the dish with the lid and cook at 300u0b0F for about 2 hours. Remove the lid and return to the oven for a further hour. Serve.
