Christmas Chutney

  1. Place onions and 1/2 cup water in a large saucepan on high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer for 10-15 mins, until onion is tender.
  2. Add apples and pears. Simmer a further 10-15 mins, stirring occasionally, until liquid has thickened slightly and fruit is tender.
  3. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 25-30 mins, until chutney is thick. Remove from heat. Let stand 10 mins.
  4. Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal immediately. Store in a cool dry place. Once opened, store in the refrigerator.
