Holiday Eggs
- 16 slices Italian bread
- 1/2 lb. grated Monterey Jack/Colby cheese
- 1/2 lb. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1 c. chopped green pepper
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 large jar mushrooms, drained
- 6 eggs
- 3 c. milk
- 1/4-1/2 tsp. ground mustard
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- salt & pepper to taste
- Saute green pepper and onion.
- Remove crusts from bread; butter both sides.
- Line 9X13 pan with 8 slices of bread.
- Mix cheese, pepper, onion and mushrooms and spread HALF of that mixture over bread.
- Layer with remaining 8 slices of bread and cover with remaining cheese mixture.
- Mix together eggs, milk, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper; pour over bread and cheese layers.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
