Board Shorts Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 300u0b0F. Grease and flour a large baking dish.
  2. Make cake mix according to directions on box. Transfer to prepared dish and bake for 50 mins. Let cool in pan for 10 mins then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Level cake top then place cut-side down on a cutting board. Cut out "board shorts." Secure cake, cut-side down, on a cake board using a little frosting. Tint remaining frosting turquoise using both colors of food coloring. Spread over cake.
  4. Knead fondant on a work surface dusted with powdered sugar. Roll out until 1/8 inch thick. Cut out a "waistband" and 2 "pockets." Use a skewer to make 2 holes in the center of waistband and thread polyester cord through holes. Tie ends in a bow. Position waistband and pockets on shorts.
  5. Make flowers on shorts using jelly beans.
