Pasta E Fagioli
- 3 cans cannellini beans with liquid
- 2 c. uncooked macaroni
- 1 c. tomato sauce
- 6 to 8 links sweet sausage, cut into small pieces
- 3 pinches black pepper
- 3/4 c. olive oil
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 6 cloves garlic, crushed
- 6 bay leaves
- 4 c. water
- 3 pinches red pepper flakes
- In frypan with small amount of water, one teaspoon olive oil and garlic, fry the sausage.
- Transfer to large pot.
- Add remaining oil, sauce, pepper, salt and bay leaves.
- Simmer 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add 4 cups of water.
- Bring to a boil.
- Add macaroni, stirring slowly.
- Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add beans with liquid and reduce to simmer.
- Remove and discard bay leaves.
- If not loose enough, add more water.
