Cottage Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 400u0b0F.
  2. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook onions for 5 mins, stirring, until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 min. Add ground beef and cook for 7 mins, stirring to break up any lumps, until browned. Stir in flour and cook for 1 min. Remove pan from heat and stir in stock, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 5 mins.
  3. Meanwhile, cook potatoes in boiling water for 10-15 mins, until tender. Drain then return to pan and mash with butter and hot milk. Season to taste.
  4. Spoon ground beef mixture into a large baking dish. Top with tomato slices then spread mashed potatoes over top. Rough up surface of mashed potatoes with a fork. Bake for 30 mins, until golden brown. Serve with salad.
