Polenta Gnocchi Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0F. Oil a 13x9 inch rimmed baking pan.
  2. Combine milk and butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil. Sprinkle polenta over milk. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon for 2 mins, or until thick. Stir in 1/2 the Parmesan. Working quickly, transfer polenta to prepared pan and smooth surface. Let cool for 20 mins, or until set.
  3. Meanwhile, heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-low heat. Cook onion for 5 mins, or until soft. Add ground beef and cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up lumps, for 5 mins, or until browned. Add gravy powder, tomatoes, vegetables and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, for 8-10 mins, or until mixture thickens. Transfer to a baking dish.
  4. Using a 2 1/2 inch star-shaped cutter, cut polenta mixture into stars. Arrange over beef mixture, overlapping slightly. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan and bake for 40 mins, or until golden brown.
