Chocolate And Pecan Scones
- 2 1/2 cups self-raising flour
- 3 tbsp cold butter, chopped
- 5 oz semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 None egg, beaten
- None None Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting and cream, to serve
- Preheat the oven to 425u0b0F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Sift flour into a large bowl. Add butter. Rub in lightly using fingertips. Add chocolate, pecans and sugar. Mix well.
- Mix milk and egg in a small bowl; reserve about 1 tbsp. Add remaining milk mixture to flour mixture; mix quickly to a soft, sticky dough. Do not over-mix.
- Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly. Press or roll out dough to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut out 16 rounds. Place close together on prepared pan. Brush with reserved milk mixture.
- Bake for 12-15 mins or until scones sound hollow when tapped. Cool on a wire rack.
- Serve dusted with cocoa powder and accompanied with cream.
