Smoky Surprise Burgers

  1. Mix beef, salt and pepper.
  2. Divide mixture into quarters. Then divide each quarter in half.
  3. Pat each portion out on a sheet of waxed paper to 4 1/2 inches.
  4. Combine barbecue sauce, mayonnaise and mustard.
  5. Spread 4 of the patties with this mixture, dividing the mixture among them.
  6. Top each of the sauced patties with a slice of Cheddar cheese and a slice of Swiss cheese.
  7. Cover filled patties with remaining patties, pinching edges to seal well.
  8. Broil 6 to 8 minutes using a broiling pan or a charcoal grill.
  9. Then serve immediately.
