Classic Steak With Mashed Potatoes And Green Beans
- 1 1/2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 2/3 cup hot milk
- 1/3 cup butter, cubed
- 2 tbsp barbeque sauce
- 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
- 4 None (5 1/4 oz) steaks
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- None None Steamed green beans, to serve
- Cook the potatoes in a large saucepan of salted water over high heat for 10-15 mins, until tender. Drain and return to the pan, then stir over medium heat for 1 min, until dry. Mash, adding hot milk and butter and season to taste.
- Meanwhile, combine the barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce and garlic in a shallow bowl. Add the steaks and turn to coat. Heat a lightly oiled grill or grill-pan to high. Reserving the marinade, cook the steaks for 2-3 mins each side for rare, or until cooked to your liking.
- Combine the reserved marinade and stock in a small saucepan on high heat. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2-3 mins, until slightly reduced. Serve the steaks with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans and drizzle the steaks with sauce.
