Dessert Pizza With Caramelized Apples

  1. Put the yeast in a small bowl with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/4 cup water and mix until dissolved. Meanwhile, gently melt 2 tbsp of the butter in a pan then add the milk. In a large bowl, mix the flour, egg, vanilla extract, 1 tsp sugar, and a pinch of salt. Slowly add the warm milk, then the yeast, mixing to create a smooth dough (you can use a food processor with a dough hook for this). Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place for about 30 mins.
  2. Meanwhile, drizzle the sliced apples with lemon juice. Heat 2 tbsp butter in a non-stick pan and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of sugar. After 1-2 mins the mixture will begin to caramelize. Toss the apples in the caramel, then remove from the pan and allow to cool.
  3. Preheat oven to 400u0b0F. Lift the dough onto a floured work surface, knead briefly, then roll out into an 11 inch circle. Lift the dough onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Spread the cranberry sauce over the dough, then distribute the apple slices on top. Let rest for 5 mins, then bake for 20-25 mins.
  4. Meanwhile toast the almonds in a pan until they are golden and fragrant. In a bowl, mix the sour cream with the cinnamon and a 1 tsp of sugar. Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle the almonds over the top, then dust with powdered sugar. Serve hot with the cinnamon cream on the side.
