Cheese Christmas Stollen

  1. Sift together 2 cups flour plus next 3 ingredients.
  2. Stir in oats. Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add lemon peel.
  3. Beat in egg, egg yolks, cottage cheese and last 1/2 cup of flour.
  4. Stir in raisins, candied fruit and nuts.
  5. Dough will be stiff and biscuit like.
  6. Divide dough in half.
  7. Turn out on lightly floured board. With palms of hands, press each half into oval shape 1/2-inch thick. Fold in 1/2 lengthwise.
  8. Lift to lightly greased cookie sheets.
  9. Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool on rack. Decorate with frosting and candied cherries.
