Beef, Cabbage And Feta Gratin
- 2 lb potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and cut in half
- 1 slice stale white bread
- 2 cups feta, crumbled
- 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 6 tbsp butter
- 2/3 cup 2% milk
- None None grated nutmeg (to taste)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/4 lb ground beef
- 1 None large onion, peeled and diced
- 2 lb cabbage, trimmed and finely sliced
- 1 pinch paprika
- 2 tbsp ground hazelnuts
- 4 sprigs parsley, finely chopped
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0F. Cook potatoes with the garlic in boiling salted water for 20 mins. Meanwhile, process bread in a food processor until finely crumbed. Whisk feta with cream until smooth and season with pepper.
- Drain potatoes and discard garlic. Melt 4 tbsp butter, stir into milk, then add to potatoes. Roughly mash with salt and nutmeg to taste. Spread the mashed potatoes in the bottom of a greased baking dish.
- Heat oil in a large frying pan and saute ground beef. Add onion and cook 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, and remove from pan. In the same pan saute cabbage for 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and paprika. Return ground beef to pan, mix well with the cabbage. Spread mixture over mashed potatoes. Add feta mixture to the gratin.
- In a frying pan, melt 2 tbsp butter, add breadcrumbs and ground hazelnuts and cook for 3 minutes. Sprinkle over the gratin. Bake for 30 minutes. Serve with garnish of chopped parsley.
