Strike-It-Rich Cake

  1. Prepare cake mix as directed on package, baking in a
  2. 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. Remove from oven.
  4. Poke holes at once down through the cake to the pan with round handle of a wooden spoon.
  5. Holes should be at 1-inch intervals.
  6. Only after poking holes, combine pudding mix with sugar in large bowl.
  7. Gradually stir in milk. Then beat at low speed for not more than 1 minute.
  8. Do not overbeat.
  9. Quickly before pudding thickens, pour about 1/2 of the thin pudding evenly over warm cake and into the holes to make the strips.
  10. Allow remaining pudding to thicken slightly; then spoon over the top, swirling it to frost the cake.
  11. Chill at least one hour.
  12. Store cake in refrigerator.
