Steak And Kidney Pie
- 10 oz beef ox kidneys
- 3 1/3 lbs beef chuck steak, coarsely chopped
- 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/4 cup plain flour
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 None egg, lightly beaten
- Remove the fat from the kidneys. Chop the kidneys finely. Place the kidneys, steak, onion, stock and soy sauce in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer, covered, for about 1 hour or until the steak is tender.
- Preheat the oven to 400u0b0F.
- Whisk flour and 1/2 cup water in a small bowl. Add to the beef mixture and stir until the mixture boils and thickens. Transfer to six 1 1/2-cup baking dishes.
- Cut the pastry into 6 rounds with the same diameter as the baking dishes. Place the rounds on beef mixture and brush them with egg. Bake the pies for about 15 mins or until browned.
