Sugar And Spice Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 350u0b0F and line two baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Place the butter and sugar into the bowl of an electric mixer and beat until pale and creamy. Add the egg, beating well until combined. Sift in the dry ingredients, add the milk, and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough in half. Wrap each half in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 mins.
  4. Roll the dough out between 2 sheets of parchment until it is about 1/8-inch thick. Cut out shapes with your desired cookie cutter and transfer to the prepared baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 15 mins, or until the cookies start to color around the edges. Cool on the baking sheets for a few mins, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. To make the icing, combine the confectioners' sugar with water until you have a thick paste, then tint with your choice of food coloring, if desired. Spread over the cookies.
