Curried Lamb With Peas And Mint
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 4 None cardamom pods, bruised
- None None Lamb with Peas and Mint
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 None onion, thinly sliced
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled, grated
- 1/2 lb frozen peas
- 1 (13.5 oz) can green lentils, drained
- 2 None tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 bunch fresh mint, chopped
- None None plain yogurt, to serve
- None None pappadums, to serve
- To make the spice mix, combine all spices. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, heat oil over high heat. Saute onion for 4-5 mins, until lightly golden. Add ground lamb, garlic and ginger. Cook for 5-6 mins, breaking up lumps, until browned. Add spice mix, reduce heat and cook, covered, for 8-10 mins, stirring occasionally.
- Add peas, lentils and 1/2 cup water. Cook for 4-5 mins, until liquid evaporates. Remove from heat. Season. Add tomatoes and mint. Serve with yogurt and pappadums.
