Little Apple Pies

  1. Preheat the oven to 425u0b0F. Grease a 12-cup muffin pan.
  2. Combine the apple pie filling, almonds, lemon peel and cinnamon in a bowl. Using a 4-inch round cookie cutter, out 10 rounds from the pastry. Line the muffin cups with the pastry. Spoon the apple mixture evenly into crusts.
  3. Cut the remaining pastry into 1/8-inch strips. Arrange the strips in a lattice pattern over the filling. Press the strips to the edge of the crusts to seal. Trim the excess pastry. Brush the pastry with egg.
  4. Bake for 20 mins or until golden. Cool in pan for 5 mins. Dust with powdered sugar. Serve the pies with ice cream.
