Easy Beef Wellington
- 10.5 oz lean ground beef
- 1 None onion, chopped
- 1 None large egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 4.5 oz button mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 None sheets puff pastry, thawed if frozen
- 1 tbsp milk
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, combine ground beef, 1/2 onion, egg and tomato sauce. Season to taste. Shape into 1 1/2 x 3 inch patties.
- Heat oil in a medium frying pan on high. Cook patties for 4-5 mins each side, until well browned. Drain on paper towel.
- Melt butter in same pan on medium. Saute remaining onion and garlic for 2-3 mins, until tender. Add mushrooms and saute for 5-6 mins, stirring until tender. Mix in Worcestershire sauce. Allow to cool.
- Cut 1 1/2 x 4 inch rounds from 1 pastry sheet. Place on baking sheet. Top each with a meat patty and mushroom mixture. Cut the other sheet into quarters; brush edges with milk. Cover patty, pressing around base to seal.
- Score tops and brush with milk. Bake for 25-30 mins, until pastry is puffed and golden.
