Chocolate Cake

  1. Sift together flour and baking powder.
  2. Melt butter with 1/2 cup water, chocolate and sugar on low heat until all ingredients are combined.
  3. Remove from heat; transfer to a large mixing bowl. Add sifted dry ingredients to melted mixture; mix thoroughly. Combine buttermilk and baking soda; make sure soda is dissolved. Add to main mixture.
  4. Combine eggs and vanilla; add to main mixture.
  5. Put mixture into greased and floured 8-inch cake pan. Bake in preheated moderate oven for 25 to 35 minutes.
  6. Cool thoroughly, then ice.
