Yalonchee Yaprakh(Lenten Dish; Spinach And Grape Leaves)

  1. Saute minced onions and garlic in hot oil until slightly browned.
  2. Add rice, thawed spinach and parsley to onions and garlic.
  3. Saute for 3 minutes.
  4. Blend in tomato paste and spices. When cooled, roll rice mixture in grape leaves and arrange in layers in pot.
  5. Add lemon juice to 3 cups of water; add to grape leaves.
  6. Place a heavy plate on top of grape leaves.
  7. Bring to a boil; simmer for 45 minutes, or until rice is cooked.
  8. Drain water off.
  9. Serve hot or cold.
