Lasagne

  1. Preheat the oven to 350u0b0F. Lightly grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan on medium heat. Saute onion and garlic for 2-3 mins, until tender. Stir in tomato paste. Increase heat to high. Add ground beef and brown well for 4-5 mins.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, wine and sugar. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, for 25-30 mins, until thickened. Season to taste.
  4. Arrange a layer of lasagna on bottom of dish, breaking to fit as needed. Cover with a 1/3 each of the meat sauce then bechamel sauce. Repeat layers twice, finishing with bechamel. Top with sliced tomatoes and cheese.
  5. Bake, uncovered, for 45-50 mins, until golden and bubbling. Let stand 10 mins before serving. Serve with green salad.
