Deep-Fried Onion Rings
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 None egg, lightly beaten
- 1 1/2 cups dried breadcrumbs
- 2 large white onions, thickly sliced, separated into rings
- None None Vegetable oil, for deep-frying
- None None FOR THE SWEET CHILI DIPPING SAUCE
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- Whisk flour, cornstarch, egg and 3/4 cup water in a large bowl until smooth. Place breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.
- Dip onion rings, one at a time, in batter, then in breadcrumbs to coat. Place, in single layer, on a baking pan.
- Fill a large saucepan or deep fryer one-third full with vegetable oil; heat to 350u0b0C (or until a cube of bread turns golden in 10 seconds). Deep-fry onion rings, in batches, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Meanwhile, for the chili dipping sauce, combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Serve with hot onion rings.
