Deep-Fried Onion Rings

  1. Whisk flour, cornstarch, egg and 3/4 cup water in a large bowl until smooth. Place breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.
  2. Dip onion rings, one at a time, in batter, then in breadcrumbs to coat. Place, in single layer, on a baking pan.
  3. Fill a large saucepan or deep fryer one-third full with vegetable oil; heat to 350u0b0C (or until a cube of bread turns golden in 10 seconds). Deep-fry onion rings, in batches, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Meanwhile, for the chili dipping sauce, combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Serve with hot onion rings.
