Honey Cookies-Russia(Medianyky)

• 4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
• 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
• 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• 2 tsp. baking powder
• 2 large eggs or 3 medium
• 1 cup honey
• 2 Tbsp. orange peel, chopped
• 1 large egg, beaten with a little water for glazing
• 1/2 cup almond halves
• Coarse sugar crystals

1. Preheat oven to 350. Sift the flour, spices, sugar, and baking powder together, blending well. Add the eggs, honey, and orange peel to make a soft dough. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutter and place on lightly greased
2. or non-stick cookie sheet. Brush each cookie with the egg wash glaze. Place one almond half in the center of each cookie and sprinkle with the coarse sugar. Bake 10-15 minutes or until done. Cool on wire racks.
