Pizza Loaf
- 1 long (1 lb.) loaf French bread or 4 long Italian rolls
- softened butter or margarine
- 3/4 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 Tbsp. minced onion
- 1 1/2 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1/4 c. sliced olives (optional)
- 2 ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 8 slices processed cheese
- Cut bread loaf or rolls in half, lengthwise.
- Spread with butter.
- Combine beef, Parmesan cheese, seasonings, onion, tomato paste and olives.
- Spread mixture on cut slices of bread loaf or rolls.
- Place unwrapped loaves or servings, meat side up, on cookie sheet.
- Top with tomato slices.
- Bake in moderate oven (350u0b0) for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven.
- Top with cheese slices in between each tomato slice.
- Return to oven until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.
- Yields 8 to 10 servings.
