Royal Philadelphia Cinnamon Buns
- 4 c. sifted plain flour
- 4 Tbsp. shortening (8 for a shorter biscuit)
- 8 level tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 egg
- cinnamon, brown sugar and raisins
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 6 Tbsp. brown sugar
- Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
- To this cut in the shortening.
- To this add milk and egg mixture.
- Stir until makes a soft dough.
- Roll out very thin.
- Spread softened butter over dough.
- Sprinkle with brown sugar, raisins and cinnamon. Begin at edge nearest you and roll up like you would a jelly roll. Cream 6 tablespoons butter and 6 tablespoons brown sugar and spread thickly on bottom and sides of baking pan or skillet.
- With sharp knife cut the dough in 2 inch pieces and place in pan with cut side up.
- Let stand 20 minutes.
- Cook at 425u0b0 for 25 minutes.
- Remove at once, upside-down.
