Vegetarian Chili(Quick And Easy Tempeh Chili)

  1. Saute tempeh (frozen or thawed) with bulgur wheat and some garlic powder in water until crumbly.
  2. Add water until completely done.
  3. The tempeh absorbs the water quickly.
  4. Add 1 can of sauce, can of water, chili beans and any seasonings (I usually add lots of chili powder and onion powder because that's how we like it) and simmer, uncovered, for about 1/2 hour until slightly thickened. You can also add chopped onion, celery or tomatoes during the simmering time.
  5. Serve over elbow macaroni or brown rice.
  6. Top with chopped onion and/or shredded cheese of your choice.
  7. Serves 6 to 8. (Vegan style recipe if no cheese is added.)
  8. This takes about 1 hour start to finish.
