Virginia Chili

  1. Brown
  2. beef
  3. in
  4. skillet.
  5. Add
  6. onion
  7. and green pepper, cooking
  8. until
  9. onion is transparent.
  10. Add chili powder, cumin, allspice
  11. and
  12. black
  13. pepper; mix well.
  14. Remove from heat.
  15. Put the
  16. remaining
  17. ingredients in a large pan and bring to a boil. Add meat mixture;
  18. reduce heat and simmer about 3 hours.
  19. (Stir often or chocolate will cause it to stick.) Remove bay leaf and serve with corn bread or muffins, finely grated cheese or small cheese
  20. crackers.
