Cornbread-Stuffed Bell Peppers

  1. Brown the meat in the bacon drippings.
  2. Add the onion, scallions, celery, salt and pepper.
  3. Cook until done.
  4. Remove from the heat.
  5. Add the crumbled cornbread and cheese.
  6. Stir in the egg.
  7. Mix well.
  8. Fill the peppers with the stuffing.
  9. Place in a baking dish.
  10. Combine the tomato sauce and water and pour the mixture over the stuffed peppers.
  11. Bake uncovered, until the peppers are done about 1 hour covered and 15 minutes uncovered to brown.
