May Basket Cookies

  1. Cream shortening, sugar and molasses; then add egg yolk.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Sift flour, salt, soda, baking powder and spices.
  4. Sift into creamed mixture and mix well.
  5. Wrap dough in foil and chill. Roll a small portion of the dough at a time to 1/8-inch thick. Keep remaining dough chilled until ready to roll out.
  6. Cut out cookies with round or flower-shaped cutters.
  7. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 350u0b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Cool.
  10. Decorate with cake decorator and frosting or with frosting in a pressure can.
  11. Makes about 6 dozen small cookies.
