Wilted Waldorf Salad

  1. In a 10 to 12-inch skillet, heat nuts until light brown; remove from pan and set aside.
  2. Peel apple and chop into small cubes.
  3. Put in bowl and add sugar and 4 tablespoons of vinegar; stir and set aside.
  4. Add oil, onion, garlic and caraway seed to frying pan.
  5. Heat until onion is limp, stirring.
  6. Add cabbage and remaining 2 tablespoons of vinegar.
  7. Stir until cabbage is wilted, about 2 or 3 minutes.
  8. Pour cabbage mixture in bowl.
  9. Top with apple mixture and nuts.
  10. Mix and salt to taste.
  11. Serves about 6.
