Louise'S Oatmeal Cookies

  1. Boil raisins in water; drain raisins, saving 1/3 cup juice. Cream shortening; add sugar and cream again.
  2. Add beaten eggs. Stir in oats.
  3. Sift flour with spices, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add alternately with 1/3 cup raisin water.
  5. Add nuts and raisins.
  6. Spoon onto cookie sheet with tablespoon or roll into balls by hand.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly brown at 350u0b0. Do not overbake or the cookies will be hard.
