Apple Rings

  1. Soak cucumbers in solution of
  2. 1 cup pickling lime to 1 gallon of water for 24
  3. hours.
  4. Rinse
  5. and soak in clear water for 3 hours;
  6. drain and rinse again.
  7. Simmer rings in solution of 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup water, alum and red food color; do not boil.
  8. Drain and cover with syrup mixture of 2 cups vinegar, 2 cups water, sugar, cinnamon and red hot candies; bring to boil until red hots melt.
  9. Drain
  10. rings
  11. and
  12. cover with syrup mixture, boiling hot. Pack rings in jar and seal.
