Carl'S Beans
- 3 lb. brown beans (white if you like)
- 1 small pkg. cubed ham (about 1 lb.)
- 1 small pkg. ham hocks
- Start the night before you cook beans. Clean beans thoroughly, getting all the rocks and dirt out of them.
- I don't like doing this part so I get Claudia to do this.
- After beans are cleaned, soak overnight in water.
- After the chicken crows and you've had a couple cups of coffee, put beans and water they soaked in all night in a pan large enough to hold it all.
- Put on stove and light fire. Add ham hocks and cubed ham at this time.
- If you have an electric roaster, cook in this; that's what I prefer. Cook beans all day, stirring occasionally, and adding water as needed. Now these beans will be fit for supper with your favorite cornbread and some fried taters and onions.
- And don't forget some sliced fresh onions.
- Yum! Yum!
