Easy Chicken And Dumplings
- 1 (3 to 4 lb.) chicken
- 2 Tbsp. celery salt
- 1 stick butter
- 1 (24 oz.) pkg. frozen dumplings (I use Winn Dixie brand)
- pepper to taste
- Cut chicken into pieces in Dutch oven.
- Add water until chicken pieces are covered.
- Bring to boil; simmer until chicken is done.
- Remove chicken from broth (saving broth).
- Cool, skin and debone, shredding chicken into strips.
- Bring broth back to a boil.
- Add dumplings, a few at a time, returning to a boil after each addition.
- After all dumplings are added, bring to a boil and simmer at medium heat for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Add chicken pieces, celery salt, stick of butter and pepper to taste.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Let stand about 15 minutes (will thicken the longer it stands).
- You can add 1 cup of chicken bouillon for extra flavor.
- It is easy and delicious!
- Serves 10.
